the future & the past

when i got into the house today i had a lovely melody running in my head, turned out to be a scott walker one, from copenhagen (scott 3)

today i took a shuffling step towards the future by getting some more RAM and a DVD writer, largely to deal with video, at this stage archiving, then later DVD authoring... the RAM to make my computer more able to deal with video editing... i got them in the computer fair in town and afterwards i almost went straight home but something drew me further into town,

and what it was drawing me to was a chance encounter with a friend who i know through another, closer friend, and he was going to meet that very same closer friend...

D (who doesn't write books about fiat cars) being the closer friend, S & his girlfriend A the chance meeters... we sat in old compton street awhile and had tea (or coffee), S & A had just been to the anarchist bookfair which has moved this year to holloway road, i intended to pop in there on my way home but we chatted for longer than i'd realised, S was just showing me the books he'd bought there, interesting, anarchist stuff, it filled me with the desire for the bookfair and i raced off, but i got to holloway too late... one more year of missing the anarchist bookfair... i used to go several years ago when it was in conway hall, semio-text / AK books always had a stall there (i bet they still do) where i could find the most recent hakim bey books, hakim bey being staunchly anti-internet these days so it's hard to find him online... print only...

i also stocked up on a few more essentials, bike stuff, contact lenses... ate a great veggie shepherds pie in the amazon and read more of the sinatra book... and me & spski just watched the spy who came in from the cold - the richard burton flim.. moody & great... 1966...

so i'm pointing forward and back... i've installed the RAM now i'm i'm going to power down and get the DVD writer in there...

x
