tax return

phew,

we were checking out what was on the TV and it looked like we had a busy schedule ahead of us, and then i said:

and i've got to do my tax return tonight as well...

and she laughed at me... deservedly...

i had one scary moment, but in the end all we had to miss was reaper which is repeated sometime and we still get to watch wierd science in 20 minutes or so...

i'm a little scared by how long it's hanging there waiting for the inland revenue site to accept the tax return but i'm sure there are many people submitting it right now also so... it'll go through... won't it?

this whole process has been greatly helped by the fact that april 2007 me sorted all the numbers out back then and all i had to do was fill it in online...

and just to think how scared i used to get... still get...

dawn & bike mishaps

i slept through the dawn project yesterday, and vowed to get it this morning, but i woke up at the point where i was supposed to be taking the shot, which is at least 15/20 minutes away from my bed...

i started going through the motions and in fact got out there on the roads, on lilith - dinah's bike - but it was so light, the sequence would have been so wrong, i turned back...

it is a beautiful day as well, it would have been a great day for filming...

so i'm currently downloading the latest demo of carina's voyager so i can work out what time tomorrow morning i need to be out there to get roughly the same amount of light as if it was thursday morning, maybe it'll just be a minute or two before, maybe 15 minutes...

so for the 3rd morning i'm waking up with my alarm at that ungodly hour, only this time i'll get out of bed when i should...

and it turns out that it'll be very similar, if i'm there either at the same time or maybe a couple of minutes earlier...

ok so the bike, a strange problem began last week directly after i fixed a puncture on the back wheel (only ever on the back wheel)... i cycled from work to the royal albert hall where we were being taken to see cirque du soleil, all the musicians from the 4 way improvisation were there, all being staff at hammersmithwork whose do it was...

it was great, particularly two men being lifted with ropes and leather straps and swinging about... very beautiful...

anyway i was cycling home and i felt a regular sensation which became a regular sound in the bike...

i looked down and there was a bulge in the back wheel where the inner tube was coming out from the outer tube at one point... very strange... i let out some air, pumped it up again and carried on my way... this happened twice more in the same journey...

anyway i didn't use the bike the next day but when i came to use it again it seemed to have fixed itself... (famous last words)...

so i was cycling it happily again up until wednesday when i was just about to cycle home from work when i noticed it had done it again... so i did the same thing, let out the air a little, sorted it out, pumped it up, and went on my way, within 5 minutes it was bulging again and in fact i didn't have time to stop before it burst...

so i walked it to the bike shop i like and chained it to a lamppost, got to go down there today and take it in to the shop... that's two hammersmith thursdays i've missed cycling to now...

now is it worth going back to bed?

telly domestic goddess

meeting up with a singer for possible future keyboard work didn't quite pan out tonight and it was just as well, dinah was in the kitchen whipping up the most amazing penny manqué which took a little longer to prepare and then quite a bit longer to recover from, in the sense of being able to function in the world..

penny being the owner and manager of the amazon cafe in the locale of where we used to live... it's where me & dinah used to always go on a sunday... purveyors of fine vegetarian roast dinners and lovely smiles... our penny manqué being dinah's version and it was quite the thing ladies and gentlemen...

then tonight i watched alien vs predator on channel 4 +1 which was really great... i'm so ready for the sequel...

digital tv having arrived you see on friday and our lives all the richer for it...

also a real plan is shaping up for the decorating of the flat, floopy & spski being the major players, it really could happen in the very near future, i've just been living with it unfinished for so long i can't quite get my head around it being decorated, this room has hieroglyphics & how could it be any different?

in other news i have 2 piano students starting this week, the shape of some of my future income x

new soundcard

ok, so today i was meant to go over to bongoP's to talk search&reflect and improvise, but last night i got hold of the audio for the improvisation below and i stayed up until 4 sorting it out... and my plan was to get up and do the paperwork i needed to do today before heading out and i just couldn't get out of bed early enough...

so i rang P and we rescheduled, i slowly got on with the paperwork and tried not to look over at the new soundcard that arrived this morning (i bought it on ebay over the weekend)...

now, paperwork done, i've plugged it in and tried something else as well and so far i have two disappointments...

my old computer and my new computer have different kinds of RAM... so if i want more RAM for mimi (it wasn't me that named her that) i have to go and buy it, instead of just taking it off of.. the old one, (see, no name, i'm not a naming computer kind of person)...

and then i plug in my nice mic to the new soundcard and nothing happens, so i look online, and lo and behold it doesn't supply phantom power, which is only relatively minor, i can plug mics through my desk which has ample phantom power, i just wanted to see it work right away...

but watch this space, i can now, (once i'm wired up properly) record up to 8 inputs at once and this is getting me very excited x

mad route planning

not too much sleep ahead of me, then the dawn project, then back here (not to floopy's) to shower & break my fast - (very necessary) - then i'm cycling on this route:

to hammersmithwork...

that'll be interesting,

my whole day bookended in theory by spski who thinks he's meeting me for the 2nd time @ the dawn project, and is definately coming round to ours in the evening...

that'll be interesting x

leeds new telly

so, what with the rec-calculation based on ignoring myself, our 7777th visitor turned out to be... from...

(wait for it)

LEEDS

which i know very little about, only that i once stopped off in leeds on a hitching journey going further north and i found myself doing magic mushrooms with some lovely people and listening to john martyn who i just spelt wrong and searched for in google maps by mistake & found Big John Drive in Martin:

but enough random frivolity... TV baby TV... i took the plunge and bought a TV from argos which had a sticker on the box saying:

two person indeed but did i need another person?

did i heck, well, just within sight of home it started to slip a bit on the bicycle (strolling beside the bicycle not madly cycling along) and in fact when i got it to the front door i had to ask for dinah's help to get it off the bike and into the flat..

so now we can watch DVD's better quality than my computer gives and we can watch BBC2 pretty well and all the other channels except channel 5 fairly poorly until next friday when virgin media are installing our digital TV ness and then... well that'll be quite something, let me tell you x

7777 almost WOWIEZOWIE

yesterday i had a look and it said 7776... so i excitedly went to see who it could be and by the time i got to where it tells me it said 7777!

wowy zowy

(more on that phrase later)

but it seems that since i was clever and sorted out our little network in this flat the counter had been counting me...

so my 7777th visitor was in fact... MYSELF...

how dull, so i'm going back and counting how many me's it's seen and the 7777th person will look like the 7777+however many me's person...

but being as it was me i will give you a little info on our little residence right now:

i have unpacked the vinyl...

we have a sofa, in fact those 2 statements should be reversed because having a sofa is a huge thing for us, and unpacking the vinyl, whilst big, isn't that big,

also balthazara loves the sofa, she lies on the back bit, on the arms, curls on her favourite cushion on a seat of it...

it's near to our dining table (at the moment) and whilst we were eating last night she leapt up to sit upright on one of the arms and she was right there at our level, while we ate...

but the vinyl, 3 things:

it was in several boxes, and now my room has a little more space free... which is wierd and great... immensely boxy as it has been in here,

listening to old music is such a joy - i put on seal's 1st album yesterday while unpacking the vinyl and it brings all kinds of warm/dusty emotions to the fore...

wowie zowie... which is one particular album i found in amongst my vinyl that i've never listened to, it's full title is:

THE WORLD OF PROGRESSIVE MUSIC - 42 MINUTES 32 SECONDS OF WOWIE ZOWIE

i'm going to listen to it at some point in the next few days i'll tell you that for nothing x

bad laughter

under our flat live 2 girls, both students,

the front room, which is where i'm sitting now, where my studio is going to be, is directly above where they hang out in the evening and in the night, but they hang out with some young men who have horrible laughs, you know, the kind of laugh that is demonstrating how mean the laugher is...

so tonight, me & dinah had floopy over and we had a long old night of card playing, shabbat meal, drinking, no smoking (only because we have none to smoke), and now i'm about to go to bed but of course i'm checking my online chess and writing this and all i can hear is one particular laugh which i'm come to hate, and also a female hideous laugh as well, new to tonight,

they're young, generally i'm probably going to make more noise than them what with the studio, i just wish they'd stop hanging out with that particular horrible laugh...

x

tomorrow we're getting a sofa... happy day x

yr2wk29 Yamaha CP80 & Wurlitzer improvisation

i recorded it yesterday, over @ landlordE's...

and also, today, i did indeed manage to hook up all the computers in this flat up to the internet with the network switch, just had to get another ethernet card for my old PC which is acting as the hub/router for the network...

wonderful x

cats & reading

we now have a dining table, that went up with floopy's help on tuesday, me & dinah have been making the chairs... 2 out of 4 being all we need for now... ikea...

no sofa yet but i think we're near to sealing the deal on a nice 2-seater in crouchend...

so the dining table implied changes and we obeyed the changes... being a shifting of a book case... and then i found myself moving a part of box mountain... but why am i telling you this? -

i think i can find a way to set up our computers in this flat with the network switch (not a router) so that they can all have internet... i think... -

and i dawn projected this morning and it was very cold... i regretted not having my battery powered gloves with me it was that cold, afterwards i took the same route i would normally have taken even though floopy and T aren't there today (i borrowed landlordE's camera) to feed cleo, and then i sat for half an hour or so with her on my lap reading...

then home and straight back to bed, waking around 1 with dinah bringing me tea & toast, then a little bit more reading, this time with balthazara,

oh that's right, that's why i was telling you about the boxes... they are mostly boxes of books and moving them around i managed to pick out a few i could read now, being in a bookdesert as i was... and the book i'm now reading (from the bowels of box mountain) is called the lowlife and it's great...

off to E's shortly to do this week's improvisation, i've traded the landlord who had a beautiful grand piano for a landlord who has many, many interesting keyboard instruments... happy days x
