1st blewbury, the whole of our immediate knight clan met up over there yesterday, because felinity & her G were planning to go down & pick up some plants...
i met felinity & G down @ the BFI IMAX @ some ungodly hour of the morning for Avatar... the 2nd time i'd seen it there and with slightly better seats, although still not perfect...
3D cinema really does require some extra brain work, small parts of my mind constructing the 3D world from the 2 visual sources, and we all found this a bit hard after 3 hours, but it's a great film, i loved it until the last hour and felinity could have lost the middle hour or so... if only G had really disliked the 1st hour we could have all had separate hour breaks...
then off we drove across to blewbury, where D&M&C had also landed, i got to sing a little bit of charlotte's song to charlotte just before they left, got an appropriate leaning in my direction from her as a response...
mum & dad both well, D&M on good form & felinity & G their lovely selves... charlotte the star...
got home last night and i've woken today with nothing to do...
not the worst sensation in the world... i might ring up le fam pevo & see what they're up to, i have been invited to a barbecue by someone i met last weekend, but i'm not sure i'm ready for so many strangers @ once today...
G came round on wednesday night to finish watching the leopard (visconti) & whilst he was here he showed me a few ableton tips, so i'm curious about that little world, music making in a different way... also i've got charlotte's song to finish writing & begin recording, a tune of HK's that i said i'd find a bassline for which i've had the idea for, but not followed through with the recording...
so there's a few things i might do... or again i might do nothing at all, smoke a little & play the rhodes all day x
listening to YMCK - family genesis, it's beautiful... i find their songs pop into my head at odd times... lovely music...

apple blossom time
i'm down in blewbury for the weekend, came to see the blewbury opera which was great, noye's fludde by benjamin britten...
it's been a long time since i was here at this time of year, the apple trees in the garden are all in different moments of blossom, a couple of them are bright white with dashes of pink... lovely...
reminds me of the old song that's been floating around my head for a month or so anyway...
this house was built on one half of an orchard, cleared of most of it's trees of course, so i've always been around apples, and i love them...
but i was eating an apple last night and i couldn't remember the last time i'd had an apple...
it's just me & mum & dad, dinah was due to come down but she couldn't in the end...
i've been relaxing, developing sounds in my mopho which i decided to bring in the absence of the piano that used to be in this house but is now in me & dinah's flat...
went up the hill earlier, watched the sunset justlike i used to...
as i was walking up i was listening to this week's improvisation - recorded on thursday but not yet in video form... just me & D (drummer) me on the mopho...
a couple of times i'm playing a repeating line while changing the filter, the sound opening out...
and both times the sun came out from behind a cloud...
so i'm walking, with the sun behind me, and as the music expands outwards the light comes out on everything... the sun close to the horizon... everything i can see is lit up by this lovely bright spring sunshine...
quite something...
today i've been imagining doing a gig on my own, with all my sounds... with sequences from the mopho mixed with piano or organ, maybe singing and playing a harmony line on the organ...
imagination such a rich ground to get music from...

Yr3wk28 moog, rhodes, voice
so, black christmas has just finished on channel 4 + 1, i haven't been up before 1:30 pm for 4 days and i'm now in the family homestead in blewbury,
everyone else went to bed at least 2 hours ago...
sleep cycle mayhem tomorrow...
i recorded this improvisation before i came down today (well, yesterday now),
i was expecting to edit the video once me & dinah return to london on sunday but it was just too tempting, an itch i had to scratch, so i did a very straightforward edit and left it rendering, with dinah uploading it to dailymotion from my computer later on...
i'm sipping sherry and about to go to bed... enjoy, happy christmas...

where i've lived
a couple of hours ago or so i saw that the woodsman was about to start on channel 4 + 1... a film about a man struggling to come to terms with normal life after being released, a sex offender...
dinah was going to bed and i was toying with the idea of watching it, it's a great subject and one that's close to my heart... not that i'm a sex offender,
just that paedophiles get a horrible press in this country, in such a stupid, rabble rousing, hang them all way that even though the act itself is so hugely wrong, because of the stupidity of the press i end up wanting to show paedophiles more understanding...
like with many aspects of life there are those who want to show understanding and there are those who want to show hatred... so anyway i found myself online and lo & behold the films almost finished now and i'm still awake anyway, not having watched it...
a few years ago a popular, national, tabloid newspaper published the names and addresses of paedophiles all across country... a clear sign of hatred and possibly the beginning of my changing attitude and need for more understanding...
anyway, i find myself wanting to write a little description of where i live now and where i've lived, through the medium of google maps satellite view which is the same i think as google earth...

i had a look back at blewbury and the definition is much better than it used to be... blewbury being ever so small and un-important... so indulge me, if you will... click on "view larger map", get rid of that daft balloon and check back here for directions...
you're looking at blewbury & you can see blewburton hill just to the east (the right).. you scroll out just until the picture gets worse... that more primary colours, grainier version that's been there for ages...
on the right of the map you'll see a river going north-south... centre on it and scroll inwards just one notch to get that better picture...
now follow the river south (down)... through a number of larger towns.. south-east, sometimes north, sometimes south, but always east...
follow it as it gets smaller in places and larger in places, until it gets really large and you can see many bridges going over it and it is in the shape of a capital M... in a city... it makes a capital M once before actually but this M has absolutely loads of bridges in it's top left hand corner...
(if you reach the millennium dome and the eastenders dip in the river you've gone just too far)
so with the M in the whole of the frame go directly north until you can see the new arsenal stadium... in the left of the frame, keep going north until you have the stadium bottom left of the frame, a pair of reservoirs directly to the north-east of the stadium, and a collection of 10 or so reservoirs roughly north-east of the pair...
zoom 2 notches in and centre on the pair of reservoirs, moving to the west a bit so that the pair of reservoirs is in the right of the frame and a park is in the left of the frame, the park has a train line running north-south immediately to it's west (left)... and on it's north-east edge it has a road, (running almost north-south at this point)... follow the road north...
after the park this road just meets other roads, until a bit of green on it's left, stop going north when that bit of green is at the bottom of the frame...
if that bit of green is at the bottom & in the centre of the frame then there is a line running almost diagonally across the frame, top left to bottom right, (the road we were following is itself heading a bit west as it goes north now)
that line you can see running diagonally was once a railway and it's now abandoned and indeed developed to the extent that it's hard to follow it on the ground, only visible from the air...
i currently live somewhere in the current frame, not far from that abandoned railway...
i have no idea whether or not this is easy to follow or indeed if anyone will follow it, so if you have a go please leave a comment as to whether it worked for you or not...
cue massive, rolling, tumble weed style silence...
now to bed x meeting dad tomorrow for a walking tour of london x
